How I Work

I usually work as a subcontractor to a “prime” consultant that has undertaken a project – usually funded by a development agency. The overall project might be quite large – in the order of several million dollars – or, it may be a small study of less than $100,000. In any case, my role is that of an expert in a specific area, be it electricity tariffs, economic/ financial issues or as Team Leader. Depending on the project, I may be the sole expert or I may be part of a professional, multi-disciplinary team. On most projects, I interact with both senior management and subordinate staff to get the job done.

As a result of my worldwide experience, I am used to working in many different types of environments – from North America and Western Europe to lesser-developed economies. Since I know my areas of expertise well and have worked in a wide variety of environments, I am able to assess most situations quickly and ultimately deliver results in accordance with the requirements of the job – this in situations where the lack of good information often discourages others.

My work-style may be described as “easy-going”. I have developed very good working relationships with both clients and colleagues over the years. Nonetheless, I do have a capacity for working intensely and getting much accomplished over short periods of time, especially in the field. In my role as an expert on a project, I usually gather information from others, and work independently in completing most required tasks. However, on larger projects, I have worked very successfully as Team Leader or Project Manager in heading both small and larger groups.
